Why give you this information??
Hotel-Traffic.com believe that internet marketing and website design go hand in hand. This is not the view shared throughout the industry resulting in more and more businesses finding that although their websites may look great they are not conducive to and have had no investment into traffic generation.
The general aim is that after reading these tips you will either:-
- decide, whilst it all seems quite logical and worthwhile, you do not have the time to DIY and therefore enquire further about the services available
- try some of the tips, find they are successful and profitable, then enquire about other services
- generate lots of new traffic yourself and then tell everyone we showed you how
This concept is how Hotel-Traffic.com approach internet marketing, good, honest advice and strong customer service. By offering a good quality value of service, word of mouth is a very effective tool.
Step 1 - Define your Strategy
Decide your overall stategy and budget. Remember - there is a lot you can achieve on a limited budget (some of the tips here are FREE), but a certain amount of investment can go a long way. Look into the different areas you could invest that money to see which creates the highest quantity of traffic and the best quality. (Note: 100 visitors of which 10% make a purchase is better than 1000 at 0.5%).
Step 2 - Define your Site and Keywords
Decide the content of your site and then define the keywords and phrases for the various pages / areas. These keywords and phrases are terms your targetted audience will type into search engines to find you. Focus on obvious keywords and phrases that link directly to your product or services and the searches that indirectly link to you. An EXTREMELY useful tool to help you find your target keywords and phrases and possible niches in your target market is WORDTRACKER - TRY IT OUT FOR FREE.
Once you have determined your keywords and phrases select the most relevant one or two to focus on within the whole site with the remainder being prominant on appropriate pages.
Step 3 - Optimise your Text
The keyphrases will need to be built into your site pages. All search engines apportion different weight to the text appearing in different areas of your site code. These include:-
- Site URL
Having keyphrase in your site URL can be helpful but is not essential - Main navigation links
Graphical roll over buttons look impressive but most engines give extra weight to the text used within links. If you have graphical link buttons also include textual links - Links within the site copy
Use keyphrases with text as links to other parts of your site - Use heading tags
Engines give extra weight to content within heading tags such as <H1> to <H6> try to include keyphrases in titles within your page - "title" "description" and "meta" tags
META tags are rarely used by search engines but it is worthwhile including your keyphrases as meta tags. More importantly is your title and description widely read by engines? - Within your textual content
Ensure keyphrases are well represented within your site text. Avoid spamming your text with more than 10% keyphrase density - Image ALT tags
These tags are used by engines. Ensure all images have appropriate ALT tags, if you have link images give them ALT tags
